We are Un Done

In a weak, whimpering, sad, pitiful showing, the Democratic "leadership" undid the last six months. All is lost. I have no faith anymore. I really don't.

Here are the top stories today on yahoo news

We Are Betrayed, Part Deux

Bush signed the National Continuity Policy, ensuring his monarchy for the future. There is no doubt in my mind they will declare war on Iran and put this policy into play.
I've said all along, these people have no intention of leaving the white house, the power, to anyone else. There will be no 2008 general election. What is it going to take to get the general population to wake up and notice?

We are Betrayed

If you get a chance go watch the PBS documentary "Spying on the Home Front". Makes me want to cancel all my electronic self and run for the hills. Here's the link:

How does it feel?

From the poet laureate:

"...you used to ride on a chrome horse
with your 'diplomat'......
...Ain't it hard
When you discover that
He really wasn't 'where it’s at'
After he took from you everything
He could steal?......"

How does it feel, America? They've taken our freedoms away bit by bit while heralding freedom in photo-op farces. They've stolen our future. They've taken any semblence of a good name America ever had and ground it into the mud of torture and lies and war. They've taken our Justice department. They've taken every federal government agency possible and put at the head of those agencies enemies of the State to be the very gatekeepers. In the Dept of Interior, the Ambassador to the UN, at the head of FEMA, the Attorney General, just to name a few. How does it feel?

Feels pretty shitty.

Shame on you for making women safer

We all know that women aren't capable of making decisions for themselves so we can't do anything that might make them think its ok to try.

By VICTOR L. SIMPSON, Associated Press Writer

ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE - Pope Benedict XVI denounced Mexico City politicians Wednesday for voting to legalize abortion, saying they should no longer receive Communion.

Flying to Latin America, Benedict was asked about comments by Mexico City church officials that the lawmakers would be excommunicated for having voted last month for the legislation legalizing abortion in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

"It's nothing new, it's normal, it wasn't arbitrary. It is what is foreseen by the church's doctrine," Benedict told reporters aboard a plane to Brazil in his first full-fledged news conference since becoming pontiff in 2005.

Reporters flying with the pope took his comments to mean that he endorsed the comments by Mexican churchmen that the lawmakers should be excommunicated.

But the Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, later issued a statement approved by the pope clarifying the remarks. The statement said the pope did not intend to excommunicate anyone. Politicians who vote in favor of abortion should not receive the sacrament of Holy Communion, Lombardi said.

The pope is quite effective in calling out and shaming public officials who try to bring their third world country into the twenty first century. Score one more point for democracy.

An Untitled Protest, Revisited

Borrowed from the Website of Country Joe and the Fish.

An Untitled Protest

Red and swollen tears tumble from her eyes
While cold silver birds who came to cruise the skies
Send death down to bend and twist her tiny hands
And then proceed to target "B" in keeping with their plans

Khaki priests of Christendom interpreters of love
Ride a stone Leviathan across a sea of blood
And pound their feet into the sand of shores they've never seen
Delegates from the western land to join the death machine

And we send cards and letters.

The oxen lie beside the road their bodies baked in mud
And fat flies chew out their eyes then bathe themselves in blood
And super heroes fill the skies, tally sheets in hand
Yes, keeping score in times of war takes a superman

The junk crawls past hidden death its cargo shakes inside
And soldier children hold their breath and kill them as they hide

And those who took so long to learn the subtle ways of death
Lie and bleed in paddy mud with questions on their breath

And we send prayers and praises.

Politicians should not make military decisions

I just want to save this, because as they have noted at FDL, the rats are deserting the ship and September is going to be the magic time when.....

(queue Mike Myers' imaginary dream sequence)

....we finally win this war, declare victory and triumphantly march out of Baghdad with the Iraqi people laying palm frawns at the feet of our soldiers. Bush might even lead the march riding on a white horse with the presidential seal waving in the breeze......

back to reality now.

Hide and watch, it will be a good thing for the republicans.

Just as Pelosi showed KindaSleazy how to be a diplomat, the democrats are showing Bush how to lead this country out of this mess. But they won't get the credit.

A quote from the distinguished gentleman from California:

But Rep.Jerry Lewis (R-Calif.), urged his colleagues to sustain the veto, saying politicians should not make military decisions.

politicians should not make military decisions.
politicians should not make military decisions.
politicians should not make military decisions.
politicians should not make military decisions.
politicians should not make military decisions.

politicians should not make military decisions.
politicians should not make military decisions.
politicians should not make military decisions.
politicians should not make military decisions.
politicians should not make military decisions.

Let's see what the quote is in a day, a week, in September. Fuckers.

Stupid doesn't just hurt people

Let's cross that bridge after we burn it down

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - More than three dozen scientists have signed a letter to protest a new Bush administration interpretation of the Endangered Species Act, saying it jeopardizes animals such as wolves and grizzly bears.
The new reading of the law proposed by Interior Department Solicitor David Bernhardt would enable the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to protect animals and plants only where they are battling for survival. The agency wouldn't have to protect them where they're in good shape.
The proposed changes would "have real and profoundly detrimental impacts on the conservation of many species and the habitat upon which they depend," said the letter, signed by 38 prominent wildlife biologists and environmental ethics specialists.
